Some long exposure photos at Yeppoon

Parked on the beach at Yeppoon gave opportunity to take some long exposure photos on a tripod, sometimes using a Neutral Density filter.  Here are some of the results, you judge for yourself whether you like this effect.

A Sabbath visitor just before sunset Friday night.  He was a very patient poser, see the next photo which was taken with a longer exposure and small aperture to maximise the depth of field.

He remained perfectly still so I could take this at f/32 for 2 seconds.

Before sunrise, f/22, 15 seconds

Kershaw Gardens (Rockhampton) waterfall, f/22, 1 second exp.

Path to the moon revisited, 20 seconds

Night time shot at 2am, 5 min exposure, white balance adjusted in RAW to 2500K.
The yellow street lights caused the tree to show as brown otherwise.

While watching a man fishing on the beach I noticed this Great Egret who appeared to be having a much more successful time fishing.

On the Beach at Yeppoon

We have been on the road for about 3 weeks.  Today and for this week we are in Yeppoon, near Rockhampton.  Our van is right on the beach, which is like a huge horse-shoe shape, which runs for miles and miles.  When we look out to sea we can see some of the Barrier Reef islands, like Great Keppell Island and Herron Island.  We can see clusters of islands for miles out to sea. Apparently they don't get cyclones here, which is good to know. The day is sunny, bright, breezy and beautiful.

The countryside is fabulous in all the rain.  All the rivers are full, the dams are overflowing, the grass is six feet high everywhere and the cows are shiny, contented and lost in the long grass as they live life to the full.  The mountains are purple and make a wonderful backdrop to the countryside.  I wonder how long since the countryside looked like this.  Nearly as green as England!  We went to Agnes Waters and 1770 and we did some so called 'free camping'.   There are some thrifty insects who like free camps too, and they had their share of me, with bites and stings.  The nights so cold that my head was wrapped in my fluffy and warm pink dressing gown to keep it from freezing.

The photos below are a few we took on the way.
